// EVOLUTION? //
The way that the (music) world evolves constantly is really something fascinating, if not a bit worrying.
Artists rise to fame overnight and are equally vulnerable to disappear and lose importance just as fast. Either you make yourself unique (and interesting), or you fade away.
This, coupled with the fact that you have to be relatable and accessible to your audience means that an artist is constantly on his/her toes. Add to this the critics and pressure from the industry itself... I reckon this is quite enough to drive a person mad.
Perhaps, that's why recent times have seen a lot of the younger artists make drastic transformations, both musically and otherwise.
So... Let's talk about some such moves by some of the younger artists of our times.
1. Justin Bieber
2. Zayn Malik
3. Selena Gomez

1. Justin Bieber
Personally, I think I like this particular transformation
the best of all... Bieber's younger music and subsequent fan-girl targeted
stuff has given way to lively beats and feel good tunes. Stuff like 'I'll show
you' shows his evolution as an artist as well, though I'm not completely sure
if it was 'manufactured' or not.
Well, as long as the sound is good...
2. Zayn Malik
Coming to the inspiration behind this post, Zayn Malik.
After Zayn's departure from One Direction made headlines in
2015, the singer started to focus on his individual career. He released his
first single 'Pillowtalk' earlier, and safe to say, his new sound is miles away
from what it was like in One Direction, though both can't really be compared.
The video, which features Gigi Hadid, is really nicely done as well (allowing for some criticism stemming from the theme). Current circumstances certainy give him a lot more room for creative expression than before.
If executed well, Zayn's new album could be a turning point in his career.

3. Selena Gomez
A huge step away form her previous image, Selena's new album, aptly titled 'revival'
is a lot more mature and, one might say, daring.
Though I'm not her biggest fan, I must say that she has some nice
tunes on this one.
4. Demi Lovato
Over the last couple of years, Demi Lovato has managed to shed her child-star image and build a decidedly more respectable one for herself. She went from 'disney star' to 'troubled' to 'recovering' and finally came out stronger. Her latest album projects an image of self-confidence and determination, both of which look good on her. Her efforts to help others are notable as well.
