// THE 1975 // INSIDER'S GUIDE //
For a fact, The 1975 are one of my favourite bands (if not THE favourite). I've heard most (if not all) of their songs, and they form a good part of my music collection.
Yes, I'm THAT FAN that even has stuff like 'Moon', and knows about 'Bigsleep' and 'Drive like I do'.
Safe to say, I'm well versed with quite a few fandoms, so I am quite a capable guide.
So... Let's look at some of my favourites from the band (kinda in most favourite to lesser order).
Note : The 1975 has always been a band that doesn't just make music, but instead, creates an atmosphere through it. As the band underwent quite a transformation a while ago, I am dividing this into two major phases, with individual favourite lists.
1. Fallingforyou
One of their most beautiful songs; the band has always regretted never putting it on an LP.
2. Medicine
This was written as part of a rescore for the film 'Drive', and is amazingly soothing. Warning : it has a rather long instrumental though (if that bothers you).
3. Facedown
This song takes 'shimmery tunes' to a whole new level.
Note : the last line(s) was remade into 'Lostmyhead' on their 2nd album.
4. Menswear
Another heavily instrumental song; this one describes a rather interesting wedding.
5. Is there somebody who can watch you?
Written about the frontman's brother, it is great to listen to while sitting alone in the dark. (Semi-acoustic)
6. Milk
This one always makes me feel good about myself (as I'm not the girl in the song).
Honourable mention : Antichrist
The band never plays this live, for personal reasons. However, it is great if you are open to it.
1. Loving someone
One of my favourite songs of theirs to date (and this is coming from someone who initially hated their 'new image'); the song has some very clever lyrics.
2. Somebody else
A synth-based calming tune that- eh, forget it, I can't find the words. Just know, it's a good song.
3. She lays down
Personally, I like this even better than Nana (the other, more acclaimed acoustic piece on the album). It is amazingly calming.
4. I like it when you sleep for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it
Yes, this is also a 'shimmery instrumental' with only about 4 lines, but you wouldn't understand just how good it is until you give it a listen.
5. If I believe you
With choir like vibes and powerful vocals, this too focuses on the 'Antichrist' theme, though it is lighter.
6. The ballad of me and my brain
A song I'd happily lose my head to.
Honourable mention : Please be naked
Three notes. Four minutes. One great song.

PRE-ILIWYS (i.e. before their 2nd album) :
This phase had the famous black and white aesthetic, and was when they started getting properly noticed.

FROM ILIWYS :
In 2015, the band changed up their image, deciding to go pink, and embrace pop. Their 2nd album can only be described as diverse. Even though I hated the idea at first, I now appreciate it.
